With
acquisition of SFO Airporter, Super Shuttle San Francisco becomes the largest ground transportation
company in San Francisco. Super Shuttle announced today it has acquired
SFO Airporter in San Francisco. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The acquisition
of SFO Airporter completes SS's strategy in San Francisco, to become
the largest diversified ground transportation company in the bay
area. By incorporating SFO Airporter's 35 coach vehicles, 55 mimi-buses
and 5 vans into the system, SS will be able to operate a combined
fleet of approximately 200 vehicles in San Francisco offering a
larger array of services to the convention business and its large
corporate clients.
"We opened
San Francisco in 1985, and it continues to be an important market
for super shuttle. It was the second major city we opened after the
Los Angeles area was launched in 1983," said Tom LaVoy, executive
vice president and chief financial officer of SS."We have long
been regarded as the largest nationally known airport ground
transportation company, but many of our customers have requested
other ground transportation services. We have chosen to diversify
our fleet with acquisitions gaining management, employees, and vehicles
to fulfill the requests of our customers."
SFO Airporter has been owned and operated by the Leonoudakis Family
for over 20 years. Jeff Leonoudakis, who has been president of SFO Airporter will remain at the helm of the new combined operations
as Vice President and General Manager of San Francisco operations
for Super Shuttle SFO.
